This is a maintenance service, not a diagnostic one. We can give your regular B12 injection if it has already been prescribed by your GP or specialist. Answer five quick questions to see whether it's likely to be right for you.

Check whether we can give your injection

Five quick questions. This is a guide to help you decide whether to book — the pharmacist confirms everything at your appointment.

1. How old are you?
2. What has your GP or specialist diagnosed?
3. Where are you with your injections?
4. Can you bring proof of your diagnosis and how often your injection is due?
5. Do any of these apply to you?

Keeping up your injections shouldn't be a chore.

Keeping up your injections shouldn't be a chore.

If you have pernicious anaemia or another cause of B12 deficiency that your body can't correct by itself, maintenance injections are usually needed for life — typically every two to three months, as set by your GP or specialist. Missing or delaying them can let symptoms creep back. Your GP surgery may not always have a nurse slot when yours is due, and clinic hours don't suit everyone. We offer the same maintenance injection under a Patient Group Direction, given by a pharmacist in a private consultation room at Monkspath Pharmacy in Shirley, with appointments that fit around work and family. Your GP or specialist stays in charge of your diagnosis and your dosing schedule — we simply make the regular injection easier to keep up. If anything changes with your health, or your symptoms return between doses, we'll tell you plainly and point you back to them.

  • Can I get a B12 injection without a diagnosis?

No. This service is only for people whose B12 deficiency has already been diagnosed by a GP or specialist and who are on an established maintenance schedule. We cannot test for deficiency, start treatment, or give B12 as a general wellness or energy boost. If you think you may be deficient, please speak to your GP — a blood test is the right first step.

  • What do I need to bring?

Proof of your diagnosis and your current maintenance schedule. A GP or hospital letter, a repeat prescription slip, or your medication list in the NHS App all work. We check this at every visit, because we need to be sure your treatment hasn't been changed or stopped since you last came.

  • Is it the same injection I get at my GP surgery?

Yes. We give the standard maintenance injection used across the NHS, at the dose and interval your clinician has prescribed — usually one injection every two or three months. It's given into the muscle, normally in the upper arm, and is over in a few minutes. Your GP remains responsible for your diagnosis and dosing schedule.

  • What does it cost?

This is a private service, so there is a charge per injection. We'll confirm the price when you call to book, so you know exactly what you'll pay before you come in. If you'd rather keep having your injections free on the NHS, your GP surgery can continue to provide them.

  • What if my symptoms come back between injections?

Tell your GP or specialist. Symptoms returning can mean your dosing interval needs reviewing, and any new numbness, tingling or balance problems need proper assessment. We can't change your schedule ourselves, but we will always tell you if we think you need to be seen.

  • Who will I work with?

When you work with Perspectiva you work with me. No hand off to junior teams once a project begins.
